7 Signs It's Time to Replace Your Air Conditioner

Air conditioners do not last forever and it's important to know when it's time to replace yours. You don't want to be in the middle of the summer and all of a sudden your AC just stops blowing cool air. Wall's HVAC Service is here to tell you 7 signs it may be time to replace your air conditioning unit.

1. Your AC unit is more than 10 years old.

Traditionally, air conditioners are good for up to 15 years, but if your AC is needing constant repairs, it's worth it to just go ahead and replace it. It's also worth it to replace it considering all of the upgrades in efficiency that have been made in the last decade.

2. The AC is using R 22 Freon.

Freon is continuously being phased out by the government, so if your AC uses Freon, you should consider replacing it. As a result of Freon being phased out, costs of it are rising significantly. Plus, you'll eventually need to switch over to a new AC in order to use the new refrigerant (R410A).

3. It's breaking down frequently.

Similar to an automobile, if your AC is breaking down all of the time, it's worth it to replace it. You will most likely end up spending more money on repairs then you would a new AC.

4. The AC is inefficient.

Air conditioners that are manufactured today, typically must have a SEER rating of at least 13. If you have an AC with an efficiency rating below 13, it can be very difficult to operate. You can decrease your energy costs by replacing it with a more efficient AC.

5. You are looking at EXPENSIVE repairs.

If you are looking at expensive repairs to your AC unit, weigh that cost against purchasing a new AC. Do your research because you may be better off just purchasing a new unit. Wall's HVAC Service has affordable AC units at the Lake of the Ozarks that will fit your budget.

6. Your home is uncomfortable.

If your AC is failing to keep your home cool, it's not doing its job. This could be a sign of an AC. This could also possibly be a sign of an incorrectly sized AC. Either way, if your AC is not doing its job, you need to find one that will

7. You are experiencing poor air flow.

If you are experiencing poor air flow, this could be a sign of compressor failure. The compressor is basically the heart of your air conditioner. If it goes out, you might need to buy a new AC.
