Your AC is Blowing Warm Air, Why?

Summer is still kicking in high gear! A properly working air conditioner can be a MUST for people who want comfortable homes. If one day, your air conditioner decides to start blowing WARM air, there could be a few KEY reasons why. Our air conditioning company at the Lake of the Ozarks has been in business for over 10 years and Wall's HVAC Service is here to give 5 reasons your AC could be blowing warm air.

5 KEY Reasons Your AC Could Be Blowing Warm Air

1. Low Refrigerant

Your AC could be blowing warm air because the refrigerant is low. If your service valve is worn, or you have loose joints or poor assembly, your refrigerant could be undercharged or overcharged. Unless you are an HVAC professional at the Lake of the Ozarks, you should never try to fix refrigerant problems by yourself. It can be dangerous. If you happen to:

  • notice your AC blowing warm air
  • hissing/gurgling noises
  • ice on your refrigerant line
...you need to act quickly. The sooner your under or overcharged refrigerant is taken care of, the better. Contact your trusted Lake of the Ozarks HVAC technician as soon as possible.

2. Condenser Coil

The outside condenser coils need FREE airflow in order for your AC to run properly. If your outdoor unit is clogged, you may turn off the unit at the source. It's also a good idea to schedule regular maintenance on your AC to help prevent major problems to your AC.

3. Dirty Air Filters Can Lead to Dirty Evaporator Coils

Your air filters don't really have anything to do with your air temperature, but if the air filter is dirty that dirt and debris can get to your evaporator coils as well. When the evaporator coils get clogged with dirt and debris, there may not be enough free airflow to allow for proper cooling throughout your home.

4. Circuit Breaker

Your HVAC system needs power to run correctly. It requires A LOT of power to run. If there is TOO much power demand, the circuit breaker may shut off automatically, as a precaution. If this happens to you, check your breaker and see if there is a tripped breaker or blown fuse. Try flipping the breaker completely off, then back on. If your breaker continues to give you trouble, you may need to contact an HVAC technician or electrician.

5. The Thermostat

Checking your thermostat may sound obvious, but it's a MUST. If your AC is blowing WARM air, your thermostat could accidentally be set on heat, instead of cool.
