Ways to Lower Your Heating Bill this Holiday Season

It's the holiday season and you want to save money anywhere you can. Start with your heating bill! There are actually different ways to lower your heating bill this holiday season. The best heating and cooling company at the Lake of the Ozarks is here to give you a few ways to go about lowering your heating bill during these colder months.

Ways to Lower Your Heating Bill this Holiday Season

Tip # 1

Decorate with warmth in mind.
Keep it warm in your house by being strategic when decorating. Try hanging insulated curtains, putting comfortable flannel sheets on your bed, and cozy rugs on your hardwood floors. Doing these things can help you to feel warmer, then your less likely to turn up the heat.

Tip # 2

Adjust how high your front door sits.
If you can see light coming in from under your front door, then you're probably losing some of the heat your paying for out your front door. Check your threshold to see if it has the screws that allow you to adjust the height. If so, adjust to where the light from the bottom of the door is mostly gone.

Tip # 3

Only heat the rooms you know are going to be used.
If you have a spare bedroom that rarely gets used or a "man cave" that you barely take the time to enjoy, don't heat those rooms. Choosing not to heat those rooms that aren't getting used can lower your heating bill.

Tip # 4

Make sure your furnace is not blocked.
Your furnace filter needs to be checked on a regular basis, monthly if possible. If you need help checking it, call your Camden County heating and cooling company. Checking your filter and replacing it when it gets dirty can help your furnace run more efficiently and lower your heating bill.
