Signs Your Thermostat May Be Too Old

Your thermostat is unresponsive.
If you go to turn your air conditioner on and you get no response, then this could be a sign your thermostat is too old. Typically, thermostats will last up to 10 years or so.

You are experiencing short cycles of air.
If your air keeps coming on, the off, in short cycles, your thermostat could be too old. For example, if your air conditioner comes on and stays on for about two minutes, then shuts off for two minutes, then comes back on for two minutes and just keeps repeating this process over and over again, your thermostat may need to be replaced.

Your AC is constantly running and won't turn off.
If your air conditioner is constantly blowing cold air and won't turn off after you have pushed the “off” button on your thermostat, then this is another sign your thermostat may need replacing or repaired. If you are questioning your thermostat, the best thing to is just to call a professional air conditioner repair company at the Lake of the Ozarks as soon as possible. Neglecting to get something like this repaired can cause a very expensive electricity bill.

The temperature in the room doesn't quite match what you set your thermostat too.
For example, if you set your thermostat to 65 degrees but the air in your home feels like 75 degrees, then your thermostat is clearly not working correctly and you should have it fixed as soon as possible. This could also raise your energy bill if not handled correctly.
