Release humidity into the air by putting a bowl of water on top of your heat register.
You may not have realized this, but you can put a bowl of water (needs to be metal or ceramic) on top of your heat register and release humidity into the air. Having water pushed into the air during these winter months can really help make your indoor air feel more comfortable.

Buy a humidifier and use it.
While buying a humidifier may seem like an obvious way to manage the dry air in your home, you should be mindful of the type of humidifier you buy. You should get one that is the right size for the room you are humidifying. Also, you could buy a cool mist humidifier or warm mist humidifier or both, just keep the differences in mind. For example, a cool mist humidifier will probably use less energy because they are just vaporizing the water rather than boiling it.

Turn your thermostat down.
A good rule of thumb is the more artificial heat you use in your home, the drier you indoor air can become. Try wearing warmer clothes or covering with a blanket when you have the urge to turn your heat up even more.
